Love notes from my newlyweds

Kind words from couples who made live wedding painting part of their Colorado celebration.

1. Planning Your Painting

During your personal consultation, we’ll discuss the moment, composition, setting, and meaningful details you would like captured. You can share wedding photos, venue images, color inspiration, and the people or pets you may want included.

2. Preparing for Your Wedding

In the weeks before your celebration, we’ll confirm the final details and reference photos for your painting. I’ll also coordinate the setup requirements needed to paint comfortably and become a seamless part of your wedding day.

3. Painting Live at Your Celebration

I arrive approximately two hours before your selected moment to set up, study the setting, and begin the foundation of your painting. During the celebration, your guests can watch the artwork take shape before the special reveal.

4. Studio Refinement

After your wedding, I return to the studio to refine the faces, details, color, and composition. You’ll have one opportunity to request minor revisions before the painting receives its protective finish.

5. Receiving Your Finished Painting

Your finished, unframed wedding painting will be ready within approximately eight to ten weeks. It can be shipped securely to your home or collected locally by arrangement.

A painting composition created around your love story

During your personal consultation, we’ll talk through the moment, setting, composition, colors, and meaningful details you would like included. Your painting can be customized to reflect your story and personal style. You can choose the overall color palette, change the season, highlight special details, or add meaningful people and animals who may not be present in the original scene.

This is your painting, and I want it to feel like you. Because it will become part of your home, every choice is made with the intention of creating artwork you will genuinely love living with.

Your choice of acrylic or watercolor style mixed media

Choose the look and texture that best reflect your wedding and personal style. Select rich, expressive acrylic painted on a gallery-wrapped board or soft, watercolor-style mixed media created on 100% cotton fine art paper. Both options are created with professional, archival-quality materials to help preserve your custom wedding painting for years to come.

Archival Materials for a Lasting Heirloom

Archival means your wedding painting is created with professional materials chosen to age beautifully. These materials are designed to resist fading, yellowing, and deterioration over time, helping preserve the color and character of your artwork.

Acrylic paintings are created on gallery-wrapped board, while watercolor-style mixed media paintings are created on 100% cotton fine art paper. Each piece also receives a protective finish suited to its medium. With proper care, your painting can remain part of your home and family story for generations.

Entertainment your guests are sure to remember

Live painting gives your guests something special to experience throughout the celebration. They can watch a blank surface transform into your wedding scene, return throughout the evening to see its progress, and share in the excitement as meaningful details appear. It becomes part entertainment, part conversation piece, and part of the story they will remember from your day.

What happens if our wedding is outdoors or the weather changes?

Outdoor weddings can absolutely be painted. We’ll plan your setup in advance, including a backup location if needed. If conditions change on the day, I can adapt my working position while continuing the planned composition.

Can you include people or pets who aren't standing in the scene?

Yes. Your painting doesn’t have to function like a single photograph. Loved ones and pets can be thoughtfully incorporated using reference photos. We’ll plan these additions in advance so they feel natural within the composition. The number included depends on your selected collection, with additional options available.

Do we have to pose for the painting?

No. You should be experiencing your wedding, not posing for it. I capture reference photographs during the celebration so you can remain fully present while I gather what I need to create and refine your painting.

How do we choose which moment from our wedding to have painted?

You don’t need to decide before booking. During your artistic consultation, we’ll discuss your venue, timeline, and meaningful moments. I’ll guide you toward a scene that best tells your story and translates beautifully to canvas—whether that’s your ceremony, first dance, reception, or another moment.

Is live wedding painting just another wedding trend?

While it happens during your reception, its purpose extends far beyond the wedding day. The finished piece is original artwork created around your story and your home. Long after the celebration, its value is not that it was a trend—but that it became a meaningful heirloom you continue to live with.

Will our guests actually enjoy the live painting experience?

Yes. The painting naturally becomes a point of interest throughout your celebration. Guests can stop by, watch the progress, return later to see changes, and experience an original artwork unfolding in real time. Guests may also sign the edges of the canvas, adding names and messages that become part of the painting’s story. Unlike entertainment that ends with the reception, this experience becomes something you keep.

Why hire a live wedding painter instead of commissioning a painting from a wedding photo afterward?

Both can become beautiful, meaningful works of art, but they offer different experiences. A studio commission is painted from your photographs after the wedding. A live wedding painting becomes part of the celebration itself. Your guests can watch the scene take shape throughout the event, then the painting they witnessed coming to life becomes the finished heirloom you bring home. You are choosing not only the artwork, but also the experience and story behind its creation.

If live painting is not the right fit for your celebration, I also create wedding paintings from photographs. Reach out to tell me about the moment you would love to preserve.

Do you finish the entire painting during our wedding?

No. And that is intentional. Your painting is created live during your celebration for up to four hours, allowing your guests to experience the artwork taking shape in real time. After the wedding, it returns to my studio for detailed refinement. This approach preserves the energy of live painting without rushing the final heirloom in a single evening.

Is a live wedding painting worth the investment?

So much of a wedding is created for one extraordinary day. Your wedding painting is different. It is created as your celebration unfolds, giving your guests the rare opportunity to watch a meaningful moment come to life on canvas. It becomes part of the entertainment, sparks conversation, and gives everyone something memorable to return to throughout the celebration.

Long after the wedding, the finished painting preserves more than how the day looked. It captures the atmosphere, emotion, and energy of the moment, becoming both an unforgettable guest experience and a deeply personal heirloom you will cherish for years.

How much does a live wedding painter cost?

Live wedding paintings vary based on canvas size, composition, and the level of detail you’d like incorporated into the finished artwork.

Every collection includes pre-wedding artistic consultation and composition planning, wedding-day preparation, up to four hours of live painting, complete studio refinement, a protective finish, and complimentary shipping of your finished artwork.

Additional loved ones, pets, custom artwork cards, and archival fine-art prints can also be added to personalize your collection.

Each painting is designed to come home with you and become part of your family’s story.

How do I know if your painting style is right for us?

Your wedding painting will be created in the same artistic style you see throughout my portfolio. I encourage you to explore my finished wedding paintings (not only the live painting process) to make sure you connect with the way I portray couples, settings, light, color, and atmosphere.

Choosing a live wedding painter is ultimately about finding an artist whose work feels like something you would be proud to live with in your home.

What if we're nervous about what the finished painting will look like?

That’s exactly why my process extends beyond the wedding night.

We’ll thoughtfully plan your composition before the wedding, I’ll capture reference photographs throughout the celebration, and your painting will receive complete studio refinement afterward.

Rather than rushing important details to completion during the reception, I have time in the studio to carefully refine your portraits, likenesses, color, atmosphere, and finer details before the artwork is considered complete.

How do you make sure our portraits actually look like us?

Portrait likeness is given additional attention during the studio-refinement process. I photograph the references I need during your wedding and use them afterward when refining your portraits. This allows me to capture the energy of your wedding live while giving your faces and important details the focused attention they deserve in the studio.
